The AC630 is flamed maple/engelmann, the combo is magic. Over the past 6yrs I've grown to believe that Eastman's experience carving violins, cello, double bass, etc has uniquely quailified them for matching woods/bracing. Maple has a kind of muting effect (like ebony fretboards) and the softer engelmann spruce matchs so well with that wood.
It's what's inside that counts:

Got to A-B that vintage varnish slope shoulder against my 1949 J45 and 1958 County Western. The Eastman sounded a bit tighter than the older guitars, but it certainly can hold its own. Eastman is on to something really good with this new line.

Chapboogie, those are three fantastic guitars.
But that varnish series on the left.... wowzers!

Scola - which Eastman model is this? Looks like all mahogany model? Very nice....

I really love those 3. The E10D in the middle is a monster and cool because it has white binding. That 630-BD is the prototype for that model and is gorgeous and the SS/V is a fun departure for me. I had to keep it. Especially after i put the Tortoloid long guard on it. I was told we will be getting the varnish models any day now. I already have 2 of the OO's pre sold.
