Serial Numbers

Welcome, Rudolf.  Thanks for sharing this info, and don't worry about your writing.  We'd love to see photos of your new T486 in the Electric guitar sub-forum.

2021 update
I wanted to date a guitar, went to the website, entered the serial number, and got a reply less than a week later stating the date it left the workshop. Very impressive.

I can't seem to break the serial number code.   I just bought a E20P, the CoA shows a new 3-11-21 date.  The serial number is M2005121.  Seems like more or less a random number with no reference to any sort of date.

Not particularly concerned one way or the other since I do have a CoA document.

The "M20" serial numbers seem to be a recent re-structure, where all 2020 guitars got assigned that as a beginning number, followed by a sequential number to finish it off (05121, in your case).  But as recently as last week, Steve B. at Eastman said on the FB Owners Group that there are no rhyme or reason to their numbers, and added that they periodically change the numbering, so we can't even attach volume to the numbers (to say that your guitar was the 5121th guitar built in 2020).

Shorter version: you're not alone.  The S/N are a mystery w/o any defined logic.

I just came across this listing for an E40OM-SB.  2/15/2021 COA with M2020563 s/n.
More proof to the randomness.

And more proof, if it was needed, of the stunning looking guitars Eastman are knocking out.

Alan, definitely.

pszy22, congrats.  This is probably the first time that Alan Turing has been mentioned in a guitar forum.  Love it!  Maybe we'll learn that Eastman serial numbers follow some disguised variation of the Fibonacci sequence.

It does seem that Eastman S/Ns are definitely a riddle wrapped in an enigma.

I bought an sb 56 used in January 2021. S/n 127522xx. Eastman rep told me it was a 2019 shipped from Pomona in January 2020.
A month later I ordered an sb57. It arrived 14 months later, covid shipping issues. S/N is 127515xx. Coa date is 8 days prior to me picking it up at store. Clearly dated at Pomona.
After looking at a bunch of SBs for sale I'm pretty sure 1275 is the LP style guitar prefix. Whether the following numbers indicate a model I don't know. Is it possible one of the 4 remaining digits differentiates between 56, 57, and 59 models. Was this guitar also produced before 2020 s/N system and waiting to be shipped in China? Are all SB models coming to stores now all made prior to 2020 and waiting to be shipped with the exception of the 54s ? The new ones online all have the 1275 prefix.
