Thanks Brian... I'm good with this thread staying in this subforum. This would be a great resource if we can figure out a dating method to the Serial Numbers.

I'll post my SN#'s later today to add to the research. Perhaps Mark or Dan from Eastman might be able to add some insight Let us know Brian if you decide to send them a note.

   for what it's worth:  my E10 00 ss# is 140 636 530.   I'm the 2nd owner; first said he bought it new in about 2012.  
UPDATE = it "went through the shop" in 2014.

I recently purchased a AC830 12 string. I had some questions about when it was made, so I contacted Eastman.
My serial number starts with 1307.....
I was told it was manufactured in July of 2013.

That's the thing.  Sometimes, it seems logical.  1307xxxx = July 2013.
But the next S/N defies the same logic: my T185MX is 1045xxxx is June 2016.

It's no longer succession (1307 before 1045?), and it's not model number (I own two E40Ds:  1465 and 1375).

I may ask Eastman if there is any logic, of they're just using a random number generator, LOL.

yeah PV, bit confusing this stuff, My E6OM starts with '11' bought it in '13 and the staff said it had been there for over a year. I dont have it to hand for the rest of the number since I'm at my daughters.

My AC522 s/n is 130632912. Eastman customer service informed me that it was made "approximately in 2012".
So i guess the 1306xxxxx does not mean June 2013...
I asked them if some logic applies to their s/ns, let's see what they answer.

Here is the answer:

"They [serial numbers] have been random, but we have logs on which we check the year of production. Since some years now, there is logic, but still not as thorough as we would like.
The first serial numbers looked like this: N1004
"

Hey, aant! Thanks for posting the reply. Glad to confirm that it's random, since it certainly wasn't making any sense (at least to me).

Is there anything else beyond the N1004 in the response above....?
