Safe to assume the "MR" designation refers to Madagascar Rosewood?
The E10OM-TC (non-MR) is listed as just Rosewood. That's the only difference I see.
At least they aren't just substituting without telling anyone. No price listed though.
I searched for it a few hours ago and the only hit was Eastman's website. Now I see it has popped up in several places available for pre-order.

Thanks for sharing, what an exciting new model.. Yes, MR is listed out as Madagascar Rosewood if you look at the spec sheet.
The E10OM-TC would have mahogany back and sides. E6, E10 have mahogany and E8, E20 have rosewood. For the E series anyways.

Yes, it's the new model with Madi Rosewood and TC Adi top. The ETA is "summer," and dealers are taking pre-orders. I placed a deposit for the dread version (E20D-MR-TC) and super excited to get it later this year. I just placed my E8D for sale locally to make room.

$500 up charge for Madagascar rosewood? Seems a bit excessive, even if discounted by a typical 20%.

The MAP difference is $416 ($2215 vs. $1799). And while that is a considerable price difference, by comparison, Martin charges $2-4k for the same upgrade. Other makers charge the same or more. I'm not condoning it... just providing the context.
Here are Martin CS prices from 2017. I would expect they're the same or higher in 2022.

I think the demand for Eastman transparency may have backfired LoL.
Now instead of just substituting Madagascar rosewood for some other rosewood and not telling anyone, they are calling it out as a different model... and charging for it.
The Law of Unintended Consequences is a close cousin to Murphy's Law.

Bit of a stretch to suggest 'transparency' has anything to do with the higher price of the new MR models. Madagascar Rosewood is very rare these days, and a markup is IMO to be expected. Not just because the raw material will likely be more expensive, but the sheer rarity in the market will push up the price - people will pay it. For Law of Unexpected Consequences read Law of Supply and Demand.

after much careful consideration, the latest greatest isn't gonna make me greatly improve as a player, so I've poured water on my wants and anyway my 10 OM sounds dang wonderful and suits my needs as a couch player perfectly
