I understand from a previous thread that the goldburst gets the Lollar P 90s while the red TV64 v gets the Seymour Duncan P90’s
Does anyone know why?
I just bought a used gold burst with the Lollar’s. Sounds great, pickups seem darker sounding than my other Fralin P90 guitars. Anyone have experience in comparing the Lollars to the Duncan’s?

Hi there,
I don't have a direct answer to your question, but I have a T64/v with SD P90 pickups and even though I haven't had a chance to compare the two versions directly next to each other, I tried out the one with Lollar last year and I think they sound quite similar, though I assume there are some subtle differences. I remember I really liked what I heard from the one with Lollar, and I also love the sound from my own guitar, which has quite a dark sound (compared to my other Eastman archtop).
Perhaps you can ask the company directly?

Are you sure? The Eastman site shows both guitars having Lollar P90’s

I believe the initial models originally had SD P90s, then the Goldburst one came out later with Lollars. I also noticed that the official website now only mentions Lollars, so I guess this is the case for the newly built ones regardless of colors. Mine does have SDs (it's from 2017, one of the first ones):

I recently purchased a 2018 (7-30-18 on the COA) T64/V in the "Amber" finish. The seller indicated it has SD P-90s, while the Eastman web site lists Lollar P-90s. Does anyone know when the switch was made from Duncan to Lollar. The pickups sound great, but I'd like to know which brand without removing them.
Great guitar BTW. An excellent Casino clone with a playable neck.

I think the switch to Lollar occurred during the course of 2018, so yours would be right around the transition.

Look at the triangular "dogears" of the pickup covers - if they have a smooth, even surface, they are Lollars, if you can see the square shape of the metal mounting tabs of the actual pickup pressed into the plastic dogear, it's a Seymour Duncan Antiquity!

My first T64v had SD pickups that sounded great. As mentioned in other posts, I sold it, and regretted it ever since. I just bought another T64 that is equipped with Lollar p90s. Haven't had time to give an opinion on which I prefer, but will definitely say the bridge Lollar is louder. The SD bridge had a bit of volume drop when switching from the neck.

I checked in with Eastman regarding the model of P-90s on my t64/V and got the following response:
I am glad to hear you are enjoying your guitar! Our records show it is a mid 2018 model, so it is most likely you have Seymour Duncan pickups installed. We started making the switch to Lollar's at the end of 2018 so that all of our 2019 models had the Lollar's installed.
Thank you,
Eastman Guitars

The conclusion that the P-90s are Duncan Antiquities is also consistent with the cover description by RomanS.
