Hollow Eastman thinlines?
#1
Hi,

I had a 386 for a few months, and loved everything about it except for the centerblock.  I really want something that has no more than a post under the bridge.  But I do like the thinner body.  I cannot find definitively if any of Eastman's thinlines are actually hollow.  From reading it seems like the T484 may just have a bridge post, but I just don't know for sure.

Thanks!
Gary

Hi Gary, I guess you're looking into lighter thinline guitars?

T64/v, one of Eastman thinline models, is fully hollow without any center block. It's like Epiphone Casino or Gibson es 330. Mine is about 2.7 kg (with the bigsby).

T184/5/6mx and Romeo have a small block just under the bridge (as opposed to a full center block), so they're also much lighter than regular semi-hollow ones.

T484 should have a full center block as far as I know (it's about 3.3 kg according to what I see on the Internet).

Hope this helps!

T484 does indeed have a full-length center block. It's a scaled down version of the T486, which also has a full-length block, as does the T386.

The rest of what JCjazz wrote is correct.

If you shop for the T18x models, be mindful of the production years, as the pickups have changed several times.  The earlier models have gold hardware and Kent Armstrong pickups.  Sometime before 2016 (my T185MX year), they switched to chrome hardware and SD59s.  A couple years ago, they changed again to Lollars, and now their website lists Bare Knuckle humbuckers.
