Those Gotoh tuners look great! Thanks for the detailed update, as well.

A great addition! Once the inlay sticker ages and opens up I would expect a more pronounced majesty and grandeur from the guitar!
I would give the guitar a treatment of 3 hours of direct sunlight a day for 6-18 months.
This can be accelerated with a tanning bed.

The DerJung tuners I used in my E40 D were a exact swap. (As we’re the ones on my martin) No holes to drill, I did change the bushings to the new gold ones, but it was easy to push the old ones out. I could have left the chrome one in. I used a wooden dowel and was just careful to check that the finish was not being damaged by pushing them out.
I have had to cut around bushings in other guitars with a razor blade as the finish was stuck to the bushing. The new bushings were easy to push in.
I can’t imagine paying more than $50 for tuners now. The DerJung line is really fantastic!! I actually like them better than waverlys.
I sold three sets of waverlys I removed from my guitars on eBay after I discovered DerJung!!
