The Romeo seems like such a unique instrument. Joe says it sounds like an arch top, but I saw a video when it came out, where players said it sounded like a Tele (but obviously not a Tele body). It seems pretty versatile if it can accomplish such a variety of sounds well.

Yes, the difference between the neck pickup with tone rolled off half and the bridge pickup with tone full on is enormous. It is remarkably airy for such a small body, but it also has more sustain that you'd expect from a guitar with only a small block under the bridge.
Of course strings matter a lot. The Romeo will sound a lot darker with TI Swings than with whatever brighter round wounds.
