I will say that the tone of 000-16 has changed significantly.  I'm not good at describing sound,  but it is just more melodic if that makes sense.

It's only going to get better...play it everyday!  You did mean 000-16, not a 000-16SM right?

No, it's a 000-16 StreetMaster, VTS Adi over Rosewood

Well it's been over a year and I was wondering about your thoughts on your 16 series Streetmaster. I'm actually thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these even though yesterday I posted on a different thread that I was probably done buying guitars. That didn't last long, only one day!

If the playability and tone with that model is anything like my two Martins I have now, I will be definitely interested. The closest store that stocks one is a few hours away so I would really appreciate if you could tell me your thoughts. Thanks, Tom

Tom,

Still gets more play time than any of my other guitars. It plays as well as my 000-18, it certainly doesn't sound like my 000-18, but that's why I bought it.   It is certainly louder than my 000-18.   I'm not good at describing sound, probably a little more aggressive than the 000-18.  It has mellowed considerably over time.

I don't use a pick, just fingers.  There are a number of good videos which are pretty representative of the way mine sounds.
It is certainly worth a look, the main complaint I hear about it is some don't like the finish.  I wasn't sure what I would think of the finish but have come to appreciate the way it looks and performs the more I play it.

have fun,

Yesterday evening I played my 000-16SM after not having had a chance to play it for a handful of days.  Maybe as much as anything having a chance to hear it with "fresh ears", I realized - It is a great sounding Martin guitar.  No quantifiers, it stands on its own as a fine sounding instrument.

It certainly suits my style of playing, fingerstyle (never a pick) slower blues.
