Swap E6-SS TC pickguard for Gibson batwing?
Posted by: Greg1075 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

Thinking of replacing the stock Eastman pickguard with a Holter Gibson batwing mostly for cosmetic reasons, but I know nothing about this type of customization. Is that foolish? Is there a risk that the guitar finish might get damaged? There is a very competent luthier by me and I wouldn't do it myself, but still wondering what the swap would entail.

Also, I'm not sure which between 50s vintage, 60s vintage, 50s reissue or 60s reissue would fit, if any. Has anyone installed any of the above on an Eastman slope shoulder?

Cheers,

Greg

  Ac320ce vs e3ome
Posted by: anthony_cal - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

Hi,
Happy new year !
I can not try any of those guitars. I read that both are excellent. Both are available second hand for similar price. Matrix and sapele back&sides with hard case for the ac320ce. Sonitone and ovangkol back&sides with semi rigid bag for the e3ome. I did not notice more difference. The choice depends on a what i play, right? Fingerstyle for the om. I like the look of the om better. I am afraid the e3ome will have not enough volume unplugged. I can not decide. Can you help me please ?

Hey fellas. Years back I had actually two different E10ss, both great guitars, both sold. They had nitro and varnish finishes.

does anyone have this model from the past two years since the finish changed? Can you weigh in and describe yours? Like? Regrets?

Star T184 vs T484 tone?
Posted by: deanmartian - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (1)

Hey everyone, specs aside I'm trying to decide between these two and I can't find any comparisons. Wondering if the small block in the T184MX vs the full center block of the T484 really makes that much of a difference in tone. Tried searching on Youtube but nothing. I suppose I could just watch a video of each and compare but does anyone have any firsthand experience A/B testing the sounds of both? I'm a clean jazz tone player if that matters. Thanks so much

Any other AC522 lovers out there?

I love my E10-SS but my AC522CE - GB is another thing altogether. It is stunning to look at, and the sound is stunning as well.

  AC 520
Posted by: Jeffafa - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

Hey All , , ,
I recently purchased a 2007 AC 520 in Eugene, Oregon and this guitar is a CANNON. It is in great cosmetic condition but has been tortured in its 17 years of being played, from what I can only guess would be the use of "medium gauge string" tension on the neck , , , causing the top to bulge in front and behind the bridge.  Someone's idea of how to fix this was to shave the bridge down and reduce the saddle to all but nothing in order to get the action to a playable height. Oh, and it could use a neck-set also.
Poor guitar.  But that being said, it stays in tune, sounds wonderful. Surprisingly, the tone is absolutely wonderful. And It is much, much louder than my 2009 E20D (I like the older Eastmans a lot).
That being said, I have a question about the Serial Number which is 1931-2.  Does anyone know what the -2 means after the 4-digit number? Does anyone know if the Eastman Factory has repaired any of these older models? Or perhaps where I could get this done to bring it back to its original condition?  I stopped into one shop in Eugene and was told $2000 dollars for a neck-set.
I'm thinking "ridiculous" but these days the world and prices may have passed me by when I stopped playing in coffee shops and just strum away happily at home.
Happy New Year to all and thanks for taking the time to browse through my long post. Jeff

Reverb listing

To a member I will offer $950 Delivered without pickup. $1100 with....(keep in mind that removing pickup will leave a 1/2" hole in the bout.)

Mint condition Eastman E10-OM purchased new in 2020. I added a brand new pickup system.  Schertler AG6-with mic ($450)

I purchased new. Great guitar, just played in home. Eastman HSC included. Certification inc.  Mfg. date 6-5-20

Great player, luthier set up. Just gassing for a jazz box. I own 4 other Eastmans and this one is the least played so I'm letting it go.

Feel free to text about it. I can send a vid if you are interested.

This year model has no back seam. Eastman doesn't make them like this anymore. I prefer it over the inlay versions.

Adirondack, mahogany. Gorgeous sound.
