New here. And getting my first acoustic.

Hey everyone! New here! I’ll be getting my first acoustic guitar. I played electric for a
Few years , and now I’m ready for an acoustic. It I can’t decide. I’m probably going to get both and then return one. I play left handed and no shops around me have left handed Eastmans. So I’m basing my decisions on YouTube videos. Here are the two guitars.

Eastman ac422ce. I love that it’s solid wood. I also enjoy the sound. I’m just concerned about durability. I want to keep this guitar for a very long time. And I don’t want to have quality concern issues.

Taylor 224ce-k deluxe. From speaking with friends Taylor seems well built, durable, and last a long time. However. I do like the sound, but it’s just a little too chimey for my ears.

I just can’t go and try them out. Wish I could.
So I just wanted to see what some of your thoughts and experiences are.

Hi Mjk and welcome to the EGF. Can I ask you which kind of music you aim to play? And do you aim to gig? If you aim to gig a guitar with a pckup would obviously make sense, otherwise maybe less so. Do you aim to finger pick or strum or both? All of these factors might inform your choice of guitar. However, you seem to have your sight set on an auditoreum cutaway, and the AC422CE is certainly well regarded in these parts!

I like a variety of musis. Rock, jazz, metal, even classical. I never really held to one style. I’m not going gig with the guitar. I’ll be doing finger style and strumming for a while. Once I get the finger style down I’ll probably do that most of the time. I don’t have the space for multiple guitars. So I’m looking for an acoustic that does it all.

Hey there. I have the E1D. I got her last Feb. It's a great guitar tone and plays great. I had the action lowered just a hair. You will enjoy it! Great choice.

Hey Mjk - welcome!

Lots of options with Eastman ... I'd also recommend the E1 series, tons of bang for the buck, and an all solid wood guitar. On your concerns - Eastman has proven to be very durable. They have the same concerns that other wood instruments have - proper temperature and humidity levels (40-60% range)

Keep us posted!

Hi Mjk
A year ago, like you, I was shopping for a new acoustic. I had pretty much narrowed it down to the Ac series, specifically the 422 & 522. Ugh, what to do. Luckily I was able to find a 422, at a store, to assess. A few weeks later I was able to find a 522 though a friend of a friend. I did not find them close at all. To my ears, he 522 was much more mellow playing folk and plenty loud enough when digging in to some Eagles songs. The appearance of the mahogany is outstanding, combined with the gold hardware makes for one truly beautiful guitar which will surely outlast my lifetime. One additional plus is the sound port which the 522 has and the 422 lacks. The sound drifting up to my ears is similar to a floor monitor. I love it, as it allows me to hear the sound being projected forward. Sounds a bit hokey I know but it works for me.

Final decision was AC522CE, hands down.
